Mission Directives

Open Call For Artists

Nuart Aberdeen is putting out an open call for artists to take part in a city-wide public art initiative this Easter.

Mission Directives is a participatory project devised by Bergen-based artist Nipper, who is inviting local artists to showcase their original artwork in various locations around the city centre.

Based on the MAKE / TAKE / REPLACE philosophy and social ideals of sharing, creativity and citizen-led communication in public space, artists of all levels are encouraged to get involved by taking to the streets to display and exchange their work for free.

Artworks should be no bigger than A5 (14·8cm ✕ 21cm) and preferably held in a sealable, waterproof bag to protect them from the elements. Paintings, illustrations, collages, drawings, photographs, stencils, watercolours, zines, stickers… all types of work are welcome.

From Thursday 13 April, Nipper will be using the hash-tag #missiondirectives to provide hints to the locations of his pieces. Feel free to upload your images to Instagram using the same hashtag to give others a clue to where they can find your work!

Bags will be available from the Nuart Aberdeen hub space (address: Unit 14, The Academy, Belmont Street) from Saturday 8 April (opening hours: 10:00 – 18:00).
